CRIME & TRAUMA SCENE CLEANUP / DALLAS

Crime and trauma scene
cleanup in Dallas.

After police or emergency services leave, the property still needs specialist cleaning. This guide covers scene release, who can approve work and where to ask about reimbursement.

Wait for the scene to be released

Do not arrange entry or cleanup until the investigating agency has released the property. If you are unsure, ask the case officer or agency directly. A cleanup appointment does not override a restricted scene.

What trauma cleanup usually covers

A provider assesses where blood or other potentially infectious material has reached, proposes a cleaning and removal scope, and handles disposal of affected materials. Ask whether the scope includes contents, flooring, walls, and documentation of completion. Cleanup of chemical residues, tear gas or drug contamination is a different specialty and is not automatically included.

Texas reimbursement for crime-scene cleanup

The Texas Attorney General's Crime Victims' Compensation program can reimburse some crime-scene cleanup costs for eligible victims. The program decides eligibility and payment; a quote or referral is not approval. Read the Attorney General's crime-scene cleanup reimbursement information and keep every invoice and record they ask for.

Rental and managed properties

In apartments and rentals across Dallas and nearby North Texas communities, the owner or property manager usually needs to authorize and coordinate the work. Tenants should ask the manager how cleanup will be arranged and who is paying before a provider is scheduled.

Before you call, review the call-planning checklist and how to compare cleanup estimates.

Common questions

Does the police department clean up after a crime?

No. Law enforcement and emergency services do not clean the property. The owner or responsible party arranges cleanup once the scene is released.

Can I clean it myself?

Blood and bodily fluids can carry bloodborne pathogens. OSHA treats this material as a workplace hazard requiring protective equipment and training. A specialist is the safer choice for anything beyond a very small, contained spot.

Is crime victims' compensation guaranteed?

No. The Texas program sets its own eligibility rules and decides each claim. Contact the program directly.
